Writing, or rather, composing poems preceded my condition as music composer and since adolescence has accompanied all of my music. Separated during many years, nowadays these two creative activities tend to merge… but not always!
Two volumes of my poetry were published in the finals of the 1970s and in the beginning of the 1980s, as well as some sparse poems, here and there. Since 1990s until today everything remains to be revealed (with the exception of some poems used in music). And here it is, from 1995 until today, to serve as a sample and to whet your appetite, a fragment, even though greatly reduced, of this continuous occupation of mine, of composing poems. My two mother languages continue to be present, yet Portuguese gains ground!
The major part of poems included here has been written for Paula, or whilst thinking of her or infinitely because she exists, that is to say, directly or indirectly all of them belong to her, as children, which we both breed.
A escrita, ou melhor a composição de poemas, antecedeu a condição de compositor de música e acompanhou depois toda a música minha desde a adolescência. Separadas durante longos anos, estas duas actividades criativas tendem hoje em fundir-se... mas nem sempre!
Dois livros de poemas foram publicados em finais de setenta e inícios de oitenta e ainda alguns poemas esparsos, aqui e ali. De noventa para cá quase tudo permanece por revelar (com excepção de alguns poemas utilizados em música), e por isso aqui fica, de 1995 até hoje, para servir de amostra e para abrir o apetite, um fragmento, ainda que muitíssimo reduzido, deste continuado percurso meu de composição de poemas. As minhas duas línguas maternas continuam a frequentar-se, mas o português ganha terreno!
A maior parte dos poemas que aqui figuram foram escritos para a Paula, ou a pensar nela ou infinitamente porque ela existe, o que é dizer que directa ou indirectamente todos lhe pertencem, como os filhos que a dois gerámos.
